2004 Tennis Saskatchewan Junior Awards
The 2004
Tennis Saskatchewan Junior Awards were presented on June 12, at the Yonex
Provincial Junior Open. President Tim McMahon and Canada Games Coach Danny Da
Costa made the Award Presentations. Award Winners are as follows:

2005-2006 Tennis
Saskatchewan Board of Directors elected at June 4th Annual General Meeting
Tim McMahon, Regina, has been
re-elected as the Tennis Saskatchewan President for the 2005-2006 fiscal year.
Gerry Gieni, Moose Jaw, has been elected as the Vice-President. Brenda Dowling,
also of Moose Jaw, has been elected as the Secretary. Leah Leibel, Regina,
remains as the Association's Treasurer.
The only new Director elected to
the Board was Dennis Wall of Saskatoon.
Norine Auramenko, Fort
Qu'Appelle, has completed her term on the Board of Directors. Tennis
Saskatchewan thanks Norine for her time and commitment while on the Board.

NCAA
Scholarships
Three Saskatoon
athletes have received athletic scholarships to attend NCAA college's beginning
September 2005. Martyna Nowak, the #1 girl in Saskatchewan U18 signed a full
scholarship with the University of Montana Grizzlies in Missoula, Montana. U of
Montana a division 1 school, competes in the BIG SKY conference. Martyna who
was highly recruited by over 20 schools becomes the 3rd Saskatchewan player to
attend University in Montana. Others include Marina Forrester and Filip Palasz
who attended Montana State University in Bozeman.
Brad Luciuk signed with
Presbyterian College in South Carolina. Presbyterian College is ranked among
the top 20 division 2 schools in the US. While, Marc Dickinson a former #1 in
Saskatchewan will join Niagara University in Niagara Falls, NY. Niagara
University is a division 1 school.
Congratulations to the three
players on achieving 3 great US scholarships!
Outdoor Selection #1:

year old, Quin Pon of Regina captured the U10 event at the VW Auto Haus Junior
Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Quin competing in only his second year of
competitive tennis won his first tennis tournament defeating Cole La Cap 9 - 4
in the final. Quin also competed in the U12 event where he finished 9 - 12 in
singles.
Anna Nelke also of Regina
captured the Girls U16 event defeating Anita Paskvalin of Winnipeg in the girls
final 4-6, 6-1, 10-4. Anna has won all the selection event in the prairie
circuit over the past year. Congratulations Anna! Adrian Urteaga finished an
impressive 3rd in the boys U16 selection #1 event. Adrian lost to finalist
Michael Black in the semi-finals 6-4, 6-4, but then won his 3rd place match
against Alex Lesiuk 6-1, 6-2. Kendell Pon of Regina lost #2 Evann Waschuck in
the opening round 6-3, 6-2. Kendell finished 9 -12 in the girls U12 event.
The next selection event is this
weekend May 11 - 15: Tuxedo Junior Open.
