Nelke & Jordan Christiansen lead Team Saskatchewan at Selection #2:

REGINA, SK (TS) – Anna Nelke and Jordan Christiansen led Team Saskatchewan
at the 2nd selection, which was held February 17 – 20 at the Winnipeg
Winter Club. Team Saskatchewan members won only 2 of 8 events at the 2nd selection.
Anna Nelke secured a birth into the U16 Nationals with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over
fellow Team Saskatchewan member Katherine Melnychuk. Jordan Christiansen captured
his second consecutive U14 selection title and also secured his birth into the
U14 Canadian Jr. Nationals with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 over Ahmed Farag of Manitoba.
After a long layoff due to injury and sickness, Martyna Nowak returned to the court and finished second to Joanna Woo of Winnipeg 7-6, 6-4 in the final. Martyna, a grade 12 student is currently speaking with 20 NCAA Division 1 schools about receiving a scholarship to the US beginning in September 2005, beat Anna Nelke of Regina 6-4, 6-3 in the Quarter-finals, in the semi finals she defeated Erica Chen of Winnipeg 6-1, 6-1. Ronan Conlon finished 2nd among U18 boys for the second consecutive time.
The third and final selection will take place March 3 – 6, 2005 at the Advantage Tennis Centre in Saskatoon, SK.
