Provincial Junior Tennis Championships: June 25 – 27, 2004


The Provincial Junior Tennis Championships were held June 25 – 27, 2004 at Douglas Park in Regina. Players from all over the province participated in the event. There were several excellent matches played and the event was very successful.

The under 12 event was captured by Lily Wiebe of Saskatoon. She defeated Jeremy Foley of Regina in the final. Finishing 3rd was Quin Pon of Regina. The Boys U14 event was won by Martin Prusinkiewicz of Saskatoon who defeated Jordan Christiansen of Saskatoon 7-5, 6-2 in the final. Eric Yee and Adrian Urteaga were semi finalists. The Girls U14 event was captured by Anna Nelke of Regina. Anna defeated Katherine Melnychuk of Saskatoon 6-4, 6-3 in the final. Gabby Andrus of Saskatoon and Sara Dewhurst of Regina were semi-finalists. Anna Nelke completed the double by winning the Girls U16 singles title over Teo Costin of Saskatoon 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 in the final. Katherine Melnychuk and Pilar Urteaga were semi-finalists. The U16 event was won by Michael Hurman of Saskatoon who defeated Adrian Urteaga of Dundurn 6-2, 7-5. Martyna Nowak won the girls U18 final defeating Teo Costin 6-1, 6-0 in the final, while Brad Luciuk captured the U18 singles title defeating Regina’s Sean Gross in the final.

In doubles action, Regan Coghill of Weyburn and Nishu Mann of Regina captured the U14 doubles title defeating Karlin Krieger of Melville and Chellan Langley of Yorkton 10 – 4. The U18 doubles title was won by Brad Luciuk and Sean Gross who defeated Jordan Christiansen and Michael Hurman in the final 10 – 1.
