Cup Stars headline the field for the $10,000 Tennis Saskatchewan

Regina (SK) – Canadian Davis Cup squad member Michal Ciszek ranked #564 on the ATP TOUR of Montreal and Tunisian Davis Cup player Oualid Jellali ranked #790 ATP TOUR headline the field at the upcoming $10,000 Saskatchewan Provincial Indoor Open at the Lakewood Indoor Tennis Centre in Saskatoon from March 17 – 20, 2005.
Michal Ciszek returns to defend the title he won previously in 2004. Michal recently was named to the 2005 Canadian Davis Cup squad has also been a regular hitting partner of Jennifer Capriati is also the #4 ranked player in Canada. Recently Michal reached the quarter-finals of a futures event in Cuba. Oualid Jellali of Tunisia now a tennis professional at ACE TENNIS Academy in Burlington in addition to competing on the ATP TOUR makes his first appearance in Saskatoon. Oualid reached the quarterfinals of a futures event in Tunisia in late 2004.
Other featured players on the men’s draw include: #18 player in Canada Alessandro Gravina of Toronto, #19 Adam Baranowski of Toronto, #3 U18 in Canada Graeme Kassautzki of Vancouver, Ricky Tywnam of Montreal QC # 34 in Canada, and Dietmar Rautenbach of Calgary ranked #38 in Canada.
On the girls side, 2004 finalist Natalia Cretu of Vancouver ranked #28 in Canada and now retired WTA TOUR player Lan Yao of China ranked #1024 WTA TOUR headline the field on the women’s side. Joining them will be many top ranked Canadian juniors from Alberta, BC, Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
