After a thrilling World Group Playoff tie held in Edmonton last month, Canada has returned to World Group Status in the 2018 Davis Cup. Led by rising star Denis Shapovalov (pictured above), Canada dismissed India in a 3-2 victory. Shapovalov won both his singles matches, with victories over Bhambri (7-6(2), 6-4, 6-7(6), 4-6, 6-1) and Ramanathan (6-3, 7-6(1), 6-3). The third point was won by Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil, who teamed up for a doubles victory over India’s Bopanna and Raja (7-5, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3). Canada will open it’s 2018 campaign against Croatia, who will host the tie from February 2-4, 2018.
