Teah Chavez has had quite the jump up the NCAA national rankings in February. The Reginan rose from No. 13 to No. 2 thanks to her unbeaten record in the month so far, becoming the second Ohio State Buckeye currently in the Top 5.
Here is the first monthly university tennis update of 2026.
Chavez’s New Year’s resolution must’ve been something along the lines of how she started 2026. The Canadian has lost just one of her ten completed singles match, sporting a perfect seven wins from seven in the month of February so far.
Over her seven-match winning streak, Chavez conceded just one set, playing in the second position in all but one of her matches. She played in the first position in Ohio State’s tie against the Texas A&M Aggies, battling fellow Canadian Mia Kupres in the Buckeye’s 4-2 win.
Chavez will have one more singles match before the end of the month when Ohio State host Big-Ten rivals the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday.
Keegan Rice is making a push to join the Top 10. The NCAA No. 12 is 19-4 in singles since September and only has one loss in six completed matches so far this year.
Rice will play in his first intraconference tie on Saturday as the University of Virginia Cavaliers play the Boston College Eagles in ACC action.
