Sports and Other Activities

(u) Unless otherwise permitted in the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan, as amended from time to time, sports or activities where one or more individuals compete or train against one or more other individuals, and all individuals cannot maintain a 3 meter separation, are not permitted. League play, tournaments, and competitions are only permitted in accordance with the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan, as amended from time to time. The owner or operator of a business or facility must not use the business or facility for this purpose, and must not rent, reserve or allow the business or facility to be used for this purpose. Notwithstanding the foregoing, individuals 18 years of age or under may continue conditioning and skills training in groups not exceeding 8 individuals so long as 3 meter distancing between all individuals is maintained.

(v) Unless otherwise permitted in the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan, as amended from time to time, group training and competition for individual athletic events (such as dance, figure skating, diving, and speed skating), including rehearsals, is not permitted. The owner or operator of a business or facility must not use the business or facility for this purpose, and must not rent, reserve or allow the business or facility to be used for this purpose.

Sports and Activities Guidelines

For general workplace guidelines, please refer to COVID-19 Workplace Information. Operators of sports and recreation facilities (multiplexes, gymnasiums, courts, rinks, training facilities, indoor playgrounds, etc.) in Saskatchewan must be in compliance with these guidelines. The information below provides guidelines for sports and activities.

The public health order prohibits team sporting activities (includes tennis), but continues to permit individual conditioning and training (18 years and younger) with indoor mask use (excluding aquatics) and three metres of physical distancing.

Group and Individual Activities – Conditioning, Training and Individual Competition
Specific information as it relates to indoor tennis:
  • Athletes and performers 18 years of age and under may continue conditioning and skills training in groups of eight or fewer, abiding by the required mask use and at least three metres of physical distancing between participants at all times.
  • Individual groups of eight may not share a training/rehearsal surface or space at the same time.
  • Coaches /trainers are not included in the training group numbers as long as they are masked and maintain a minimum physical distance of three metres.
  • Tournaments are not permitted.
