Following up on her impressive run to the Top 8 of Junior Nationals earlier this year, Teah Chavez has added another incredible accomplishment to her resume. At the Yonex Calgary ITF Junior Event, held at the Osten & Victor Alberta Tennis Centre, Teah reached her first ITF junior final. Making the run even more impressive is the fact that this was Teah’s first ever ITF-level junior tournament appearance! ITF junior tournaments are international-level events where the best junior players compete against their rivals from around the world. Here’s a look at Teah’s incredible run to the finals:

In the first round, Teah had a comfortable win over fellow Canadian Victoria Tankova 6-1, 6-3. Next, she faced the sixth seed, Hana Gamracy, and won the match 7-6(2), 6-3. In the quarterfinals, Teah ran into another seed: fourth-seeded Karin Hamilton. This match was a three-set battle, but Teah came through 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. In the semi-finals, Teah faced American Samantha Buyckx. Again, she battled back from a set down to win the match 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. In the finals, Teah played Kayla Cross, another Canadian, but lost 6-1, 6-3. For a full list of results from the event, check out the tournament’s ITF Profile: Yonex Calgary ITF Junior Event
